Hey FEG experts, my friend's 20 ga will on occasion give a light strike in the left barrel resulting in a failure to fire. I had a gunsmith look at it for him and the smith does not think its a spring issue. Said some wear marks indicate that the hammer (or was it the firing pin?) may be getting partly hung up, so he did some honing, but it has not eliminated the problem. Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks

Is the firing pin worn down? You may need to take a measurement. Is it bent? Could be the spring. Change them around if you feel like playing around.

Thanks, will suggest to my buddy that he check. Would seem strange to have a worn firing in the No. 2 barrel. I've never seen a FEG apart, do you know if the firing pin is attached to the hammer?

Not 100% sure but I don't think so. Has he had the gun long? One reason for a pin on the edge of being too short is if there was a problem of the pin dragging on a fired shell when opening the gun. Someone might have filed it down a bit too short. Just a thought.

Pull the stock and have a good look inside. I suspect that the hammer may be dragging on the cocking indicator. Over the years I have seen quite a few FEG's with the cocking indicators removed. I have wondered why?
