Long story short Im getting tired of 'surplus' ( lots of it) and am looking for commercial offerings to feed my 223/308 700P, I dont really feel like going out and dropping 200.00 @ WSS to find a 1 box that I love, what is working for you guys on the 'commercial' side ???????

I'm more of a 5R fan but from the reports I've read the P models like the same ammo. I like accuracy.... so my two preferred rounds from a 24" 5R milspec with a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x are:

1) Federal Gold 168 grain match (not cheap, but they are the benchmark)
2) HSM 168 grain match. I have 4 boxes of this stuff waiting to be tried. I haven't had a chance to try them out.

The HSM ammo on Sniper Central was beating out the Federal Gold for accuracy with a 700P rifle. It's also cheaper than the Federal. The hard part is finding the stuff.

Not cheap stuff but the results have been excellent.

I was thinking of picking up a few boxes of hornady to try out, I remember the 'comparo' on snipercentral.com they laid out a 700P and tried 8 or 9 different loads some were 1.2 all the way down to .300:eek:

What Epoxy7 mentioned, plus Black Hills ammo. They do very good also, if you can find some.

Of course the best would still be to reload, since match ammo doesn't come cheap. :(

The hornady 168 grain amax ammo shot good in my SPS-Varmint. Sub MOA for sure, so probably at the limits of my skill level and possibly the rifle. Was decently priced when I bought a box at around $27.
