Hi guys.
I thought I would share some photos of a few hunts in the past month. im not exactly sure if I posted any of these ones. but what the hell

I did end up shooting this Stag, when dropped it slid into the berries an was quite a fiasco. I didn't not grab any hero photos.

Very nice, and lucky. I would love to hunt sambar and red stag. Beautiful country you get to play in.

Seems pretty thick and hilly country. Almost impossible to bushwack and get anywhere close, your noise pushes them out before you would ever see a hair.

So glassing from high points and longish shots would be the norm??

Nowarning shot, not always.

90% of my Sambar have been shot by "walking them up", some of the Country is thick as hell due to the Bushfires, but the natural stuff is quite good! bush shots can be so close ya smell em, or you can get a good 100m view in some areas.

The Sambar are so smart that stalking them makes them very very difficult to get a shot at, they will hold up an not move until you are inline or gone past them, letting out a Honk or Bell noise before departing at a rate of knots.
Whats also on the Sambars side is theiur smell, eyesight and hearing, common with most deer but the Sambars 6th sense just makes them, a great challenge to hunt.

So the advantage is to find unalarmed deer, bedded before making the decision on move in an shoot etc.

I am seeing a lot more deer via glassing and not nearly spooking off as many resident deer as the newbie who is attempting to walk them up.


one of the biggest problems in our bush is the blackberry, the shaded gulleys as you might tell in photos are hell, although, where there is blackberry there is Sambar deer!!!



In the places where bushfire has burnt and schrub has come back thick, there is no chance to even Glass as the forest floor is lost.
