I want FF rail on my Norinco CQ. I however have the problem of not being able to remove my front site assembly and do not want to cut it off. Is it possible t cheat and remove my barrel and install the rail , then re-install the barrel?

Hammer punch and hammer strapped to a 2x6 with holes drilled out under the pins. I'd suggest buying a real front sight block but the 2x6 will work.

The pins come out but I had to use a press to get mine out. Not big deal so if you know someone with a press it is easy to take the front sites off.

Could just go with a Daniel Defence Omega Rail.... plastic handguards come out, Omega Rail goes in and screws down to secure.... that's abt it

The barrel nut which the FFHG attaches to secures the barrel to the upper receiver.

So no you can't "cheat" it.

You could go with a DD rail (previous posters mentioned) or a short 7" HG if you can get your barrel wrench between the HG and the barrel nut.

Cheers!

Midwest makes a FF rail that assembles on to the barrel nut after you cut off the Delta Ring Assembly. It's solid, floats the barrel, is easy to assemble and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. They're available from Wolverine.

Incidentally, that is a Norc 14.5 upper.
