fiber optic sights...or night sights...

my SP-101 has a fiber sight, but I had shot it on a cloudy day, so it didn't really work, but today, after shooting someone's Norinco 1911 in .45 and the fiber sight it had installed, I WANT THEM!!!

the SP-101 sight is okay, but it was nothing like the one on that Norinco.

I would like the front sights on my SP-101, 22/45 Lite & maybe my P250 (not sure if the front sight can be changed, haven't looked closely).

what are some good fiber sights to consider?
 
I went with LPA FO sights for my 226 for daytime competition use - night sights just don't work so well under bright skies for older eyes :p
 
As they spend all night locked in a safe ...night sights wouldn't be any great advantage....id go f/o...personal preference of front only...always found a black out rear sight finds the front post quicker...jmho
 
good to know that nightsights still won't help even when it's cloudy out...fiber optics it is.

that said, I see there are two options for Sig's - #8/#8 or #6/#8.

what's the difference between the two? the listing on the site doesn't show anything obvious to me. :p
 
One alternative is to go with a regular notch and post and paint the front sight fluorescent green or red. I have gone from a FO to this set up on my GP-100 and 686. On a bright day the fluorescent paint really does glow and on a dull day you still get a VG front sight picture.

Not sure I am ready to convert all my guns to this but my revolvers all will get this treatment. Not sure this is for everyone but it does work.

I have an SP101 and a GP100 with fibre optic sights (both Hi-Viz) and find them pretty good. I was doing some trigger work on my GP100 recently and went out the back door around dusk and even then there was decent light on the front sight. Any way of finding out what brand was on that Norinco? I've also tried a thin strip of Scotchlite reflective tape on a flat blade front sight and it works quite well, esp. if the blade is angled.
 
I used to shoot PPC and switched to IPSC.
FO on my Tanfoglio (LPA sights)....great sight picture anf fast acquisition; it was sunny last saturday and the steel was ringing.
 
#'s refer to sight heights, used to adjust vertical POI from stock if required (my P226 stock sights were #8 front and rear).

doesn't look like Truglo supports CZ. :p

actually, thats not quite true...just have to use their tritium/night sight SKU's with fiber optic. :yingyang:

Rear Sight Heights:

#4 = 5.24mm (0.21 inches)
#5 = 5.52mm (0.22 inches)
#6 = 5.80mm (0.23 inches)
#7 = 6.07mm (0.24 inches)
#8 = 6.35mm (0.25 inches)
#9 = 6.62mm (0.26 inches)
#10 = 6.90mm (0.27 inches)

Front Sight Heights:

#5 = 6.01mm (0.235 inches)
#6 = 5.88mm (0.230 inches)
#7 = 5.74mm (0.225 inches)
#8 = 5.60mm (0.220 inches)
#9 = 5.46mm (0.215 inches)
#10 = 5.32mm (0.210 inches)


A higher rear sight number (taller) will raise the point of impact, a smaller front sight number will lower the point of impact.
