I have never seen one of these M14 fiberglass stocks in person but I've noticed that a lot of them have the rubber butt pad on them. Is this mandatory because the normal steel one doesn't work for some reason? Or is it to lighten the recoil because of the loss of weight? Do the fiberglass stocks even have the hollow stock for the goodies?

yes it has the hollow tubes for storing combo tool and cleaning kit (with the rubber pad you wont be able to access them though if you store them there cause it's bolted in :D)

I really don't know why I bought the rubber pad actually
it's true though, it does increase lenght of pull by an inch or so
