Hey, i have a CZ shadow with a fibre front sight. Red was not my thing and got the yellow one from CZ customs ths spring and shot the whole season outside with it. It´s a 1.5mm blade btw. I just got back from an indoor match, with what seems like poor lighting (compared to outside), and shot a hell of alot slower than outside. Tracking that FO front sight inside is a real pain, it doesnt pick up well minimal lighting at all.

To the question : which 1.5mm fibre optic front sight picks up minimal lighting the best? It doesnt have to be from CZ i just want something ultra bright. I need to get it in good lenghts too as i will switch it from time to time with my yellow cz ones.

Green has the best contrast.

Beware the fragility of fiber optics--always keep backup tubes, as they have a habit of falling out. In a pinch, a dayglo translucent green trimmer line can be used in the stead of a missing tube (not great, but it works).

I replaced the red F.O. tube in my STI Spartan with a green one and it really stands out- as long as I'm in the light. I got my fibre optic rods from www.fiberopticproducts.com in California and they seem to be pretty good as well as relatively inexpensive. I had them shipped to a US address; if you order from them make sure they ship US Postal Service! (Hopefully no one would ship such small stuff via UPS anyway.)

Thank you Stuart this is exactly what i needed, and at that price i will order a bundle of each. Test out which is best indoors, and test which is best outside, and if it's the same i will have no problem selling the other. Will keep posted how shipping went thru for Canada.

Edit, i have just ordered 2x 3ft multi-pack from that site. Which means i will have 6ft of : green, yellow, red, orange and purple. Will have plenty to experiement on, will keep updated on my personnal favorites for outdoor-and-indoor.

I'm glad the info was useful. Their website looks a bit cheesy but they definitely have a lot of stuff.
I bet the purple will show up especially well against zombies.

Fact still remains FO sights are not meant for low light.

While is a good choice on a sporting gun, it does not really have any use on a HD/Carry gun (and yes I realize in Canada that's verbotten).

These guys make a hybrid fiber optic and tritium sight:

I suppose someone with a wilderness ATC would find one useful, likely working better than a gold dot sight.

The only firearms i shoot with fiber optics on are my 2 shadows.
For a shadow, fully changing front post is not convenient, and in outside conditions that yellow fiber sticks out like crazy.
My main and only use for this is IPSC, and right now i am in much need to find a solution for indoors.

Maybe just changing will help, with a bit of research i have found that fiber rods can get cloudy when they have been in contact with oil/cleaning products a few times. If that's the case i will just change rods every month or two.
And yeah the purple is just there because it was packaged. But hey zombies... you just gave me a great sales pitch for when i post the purple up the EE : Zombie fiber optics for sale
