field stripping M14

Hi ok today I was trying to field strip my M14 but it will not come apart. So do I put WD-40 on it or no.

What won't come apart? Trigger group, return spring and guide, operating rod and bolt, gas group?

Is it the trigger group? Pull the trigger guard out and all the way forward, then lift it straight out. From there, the stock can be slid off with a little effort. The eye in the rear of the trigger guard is meant for insertion of an object or tool to help detach the guard.

whatever you do, don't strip the bolt in the feild,or you will be looking for an extractor and spring

well I can't get the bloody Trigger group to come out. Any ideas on how to get the sucker out?

I think it's time for you to make an appointment to see the M14 Doctor (Langley, BC)!

Is this problem child a NIB Norc? Others have had the same issue, a seach of past threads on this forum should point the way.

Get a long screwdriver, stick it in the hole in the back of the trigger guard, and lever on it like it is one of your average chilliwack 4X4s stuck in a mudhole at the Peg...it will come out...
