I'm about to fieldstrip my Colt Comp 9mm.

The outer surface of the pistol I believe to be parkerized.

Is it ok to use CLP (Break Away) to clean the soot and crap on the outer surface of the pistol or will this change the matte finish in some way?????

Should I be using something else to clean this pistol or is it the same no matter what the outer finish of the pistol?

CLP is a combination of cleaner and lubricant. Does the job and is simple.

I prefer using a degreaser like MPRO7 or classic solvent then when the metal is clean, apply lubricant/oil.

Parkerizing has a honeycomb like structure and requires oil/lubricant to be applied and wiped on it. The structure basically 'holds' the oil within it and provides protection to the underlying metal.
