Fifth Annual EOHC Spring Milshoot

SKS, I'm not biting, I know you're better than you'd like us to believe ;)

(But my two boys sure will try to beat you if you compete in the open round though) :D

Here's a thought...

How many clubs in Eastern Ontario have Milsurp days? EOHC seems to... we have one here at FRPC... Does the Brockville club have one? Does Stittsville?

What do you guys think of making a Milsurp tour?

We all shoot at each club's milsurp day (if guests are allowed)... and keep a running total of the scores on here... like a pro-golf leader board... Bragging rights to the winner at the end of the season...

Events could be:
-EOHC (100 & 200 Yds)
-FRPC (50 & 100 yds last year... maybe 200 or 300 yds if we want)
- Maybe we could get guest passes with the ORA here in Kingston or maybe Connaught do do some long range work (Kingston is out to 600 yds)
- Brockville
- Stittsville...

If better dates worked better... we could even make our own events at each club on days separate from the club's Milsurp day... For example... if no one could make the FRPC Day in September... we could all get together on another day and have our own match...

We would have to get the scoring system a little more standardized... For example it looks like the EOHC scores go to 500... the FRPC scores last year only went to a total of 45... so we'd need both to be higher scores so that someone who shoots poorly at a 500 point event doesn't end up placing higher than someone who wins a 45 point event... or maybe you get points separately to the raw score for how well you place at each event (10 for first, 9 for second, 8 for third, etc)...

What about selecting a single rifle to use at the beginning of the season and only using that one rifle for all events?

Thoughts?

EB

PS... I hope to make it to EOHC as a guest this year...

A good idea, and I do like ideas. I like ideas even better when it's not for someone else to do. You volunteering?

I think the best way to start is to advertize those other events (I never heard of them), make them welcoming to participants, and see how well they are attended. I'd love to see more events, but I'd prefer them to all be different, not all the same.

My hands are full with attending the three events at EOHC (Winter, Spring and Fall), so I doubt that I'd go to more than maybe one more event. You might find a few guys who would hit most (but not all) of the events, but the numbers would be a handful IMO.

The biggest hurdle is probably the notion of coordinating dates. It would be impossible - it's a challenge to coordinate our Milshoot just with other EOHC events, much less other clubs.

A lot of guys like using a different gun for each Milshoot.....

I think the logistics would be quite easy...

Just announcing when each club has a match... try get guests invited... then post our scores/placing on here... get a thread stickied... and we're off to the races...

I don't think anyone could make all the matches... but if most of us made most of them... then great... You'd obviously get more points the more you shoot... as if we needed more motivation!

Mainly getting a bunch of us together to shoot at each club's day and keeping track of scores here... Then bragging at the end of the summer...

Just wanted to bump this thread to remind everyone of tomorrow's Milshoot. Hope to see a good turnout tomorrow, the weather should be great. Don't forget your bug spray!

Good on you Louis. I invited a couple of friends, but unfortunately they all have other plans for Saturday. I wonder if the shotgun crew will be there? 50+ slugs is just too much for my shoulder to bear :D.

I'll be shooting my Mosin M44, and already I've got ice packs in the freezer. Can't even imagine what a slug fest would to to my feeble frame...
