Filing Norinco grip bushings

Hey guys, sorry to bump an old thread, but I thought it'd be better than making a new one.

I don't know a hell of a lot about gun parts but I want to get some slim grips for my new Norinco 1911A1C. If I buy this product from Brownells:

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24892/Product/SLIM-GRIP-SCREWS-BUSHINGS

Will it be all I need to (easily) install any set of slim 1911 grips on my my gun? Also, grips that say that they come with new bushings and screws (like in the link below, for example), will the bushings/screws also work?

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=5518/avs|Make_3=1911/Product/MCCORMICK-1911-AUTO-SLIM-CARRY-GRIPS

As well, do the bushings simply slide out into the magazine compartment?

And just to clarify, I do want 'government' sized grips for my 'commander' sized 1911, correct?

Thanks!

All my Norcs are past generation, and came with metric bushing threads. Bushings from the US will not be metric. When I switched to slim grips, I purchased oversize slim bushings and a die-tap and re-threaded my frame.
As for the bushing protruding into the mag well, It is more than likely the grips screws will protrude. You can get short grips screws to match your short bushings, or file the Norc screws shorter.

Others may have had a different experience.

"geez....... for $10 you can get new slim bushings from Brownelles....."

Are you serious?

You know this for a fact?

You have done it?

If so, I'll put a stop on my gun smithing order.

yep, thats where i got mine. The norc bushings can be a PITA to get out, you will kill at least one removing them. Too hard and staked in to the frame :(. But if your tap won't start, just get the correct tap drill (you can order it with the over size tap and bushings) and drill thru straight with a hand drill. easy stuff really! If you can tap a hole, you can do this.

I had one bushing that was slightly over long, had to file it down about 10 thou.
