Fill in the blank...

Integrated sight was an end user request.
X300 at 12 is nice, but not to the point that I would give up the sleekness of the flip out of the way.
Really unless you mounting a can the 3 or 9 positions for a light are fine, and even then you can make it work, a lot of people run dual X300's each side.

The main reason for the integrated sight is when a PEQ-15/16 is on high power, units have been finding that the laser has some spill and sights on the rail can reflect enough back into the users NODs to cause blind spots permanently burned into the eye.

I hear you on the wrench.

Big_Red has one that is going to wing its way to Petwawa, but we are still going to try to get a cheaper wrench out.

Other than EOTECH's, I've never had an optic fail to where I needed to use my irons, and I prefer to keep mine down, I'm well aware I am at odds with LAV on this. I feel inside 100m if the optic fails, I can still aim over the weapon and get hits, outside that range, odds are I will have time to pop the sights up (and potnetially my optic off) -- that said, my biggest fear these days is a paper target becoming animated and attacking me, and I have a staple gun to solve that threat ;)

Rifle length URX -- ditch the VLTOR flip front sight and go low pro gas block...

just saying ;)

Kev, I just came from that road. I'm gonna try something different. I like the full rails shielding the LP gas block and I'd definitely try a URX II (integrated swivel mount...that's a big one for me) but they just ain't available :(

Here's some before shots:

Thats what you want...

I had a rifle length rail cut down and ears over the side of the KAC Flip Front Sight Gas Block (which we sell to Bravo Co and MSTN seperately now for their builds...)

Kev, Do you have any better pics of that set up...maybe minus the light so I can see exactly what you've done?

That looks very close to what I want. Ideally it should be:

- Free floated
- Uninterrupted Top rail and a smooth integration into the receiver
- Built in QD swivels at the rear (preferably rotation limiting)
- Extended sides and bottom to get the light and vert grip forward enough
- light weight but ridged

I know that's a tall order and I think I may have to chop something that's already in existence to achieve this.

We have that in a USMC trial rail system (basically a URX with some alterations) - you could chop the rail to give ears. However we don't make it save for the trial ones.

I chopped a rifle length URX (old style) to make a URX-MRE - but I kept the front sight on the M4A1

I'll bring the upper back to work for some pics.

I have a similar upper with the same Vltor flip-up sight , didn't saw in my first post that you wanted a one piece look...
But it is a complete Vltor upper, not a two piece one.

the DD Omega X would have the swivel hole.
But a DD Lite rail would be better I think , why not with a DD swivel mount ?
You can take the long one and chop the top to have your side rails !

Maybe the answer is simple - ditch the shotdot!

Not happenin. I've been through countless ACOGs and Aimpoints with magnifiers and various set ups only to find out first hand what everyone says that the S&B is the best.

I looked at the Vltor VIS but I don't like the one piece design. If you f**k up a rail the whole thing is junked instead of just replacing the forend.

As for the bolt on swivels, I'd prefer it were integrated and not an after thought. And besides, if I wanted something like that I'd just chop the LaRue I've got collecting dust in the EE.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

If you want integrated sling swivel, a super lightweight and sleek hand rail, and uninterrupted rail continuity, the KAC URX2 in either Mid length or rifle length.

Only problem is the tools to install it yourself and the rails are quite pricey.

Talk to Mark at Questar, he may be able to help you export one of them rails.
