Well, I went out this morning for one last kick at the can, and came home empty handed again. This year marks the first year that I seriously went out looking for big game on my own, and I like to think that I learned a few things; saw a bunch of sign, and watched the sun rise a few more times over snow capped mountains. I did manage to put a few grouse away, and ended up fishing more this year than the last 10 combined. So, even though my freezer has no venison in it, I had a fantastic hunting season, and as the saying goes, I'm another year wiser. At least now I'll have some time to knock a few things of the "honey-do" list... Cheers guys, hope you guys had a great season as well.

Check me down for tag soup. I didn’t get out too much as my father in law is terribly ill. Just makes the desire that much stronger for next years hunt.

Tag soup as well. I was successful in stalking and found a few animals, but some had a hard summer i think, and needed more meat on their bones. I passed.

Still fun to get out solo, even went on a couple group hunts of 3-4 guys.

I did well this year, but have had plenty of tag soup over the years. As long as you enjoy the process, right? This year was the first time I've ever had to pack a big game animal out on my back. That was a fun learning experience, and an eye opener. Apparently I'm getting old

I came up empty handed too. Put a lot of time and effort in. Antler restrictions in BC kills me. Had to pass up 3 mule bucks and 3 caribou over the past 2 years as they were not quite there. Oh well time to start getting ready for the 2019 opener. Better luck next year!

We did well this year, a bull moose, three whitetail bucks and two does. This was with a friend and my son who took a 6x5 WT, I took a 5 x 5, these two gave us a combined total of 348 pounds of meat (skinned, cleaned, headless with the legs off). My friend took a small two point, not large but good eating. We also took two WT does. Great meat, they were all feeding on my uncles corn field (silage) beside my quarter section. In all honesty though, while the meat is a bonus, just getting out is the most important thing, I have had many unfilled tags, the times and company are the most important thing as I get older.

Better luck next year Lex, I remember getting skunked three years back during my first year hunting. I didn’t see a single deer and I think I bagged 5-6 grouse max, it was still a lot of fun and it made me want to try harder the next year which was much more successful.

I had a good year, but I’ve had my share of tag soup years also. Just keep trying, you Lear a bit more every time you go. Caribou can be “not great” if taken during the rut, but generally if shot earlier it’s ok. Still not moose or elk, but ok

I got a nice big white tail doe with my neighbor's cross bow. First time I've ever hunted with a cross bow. I think I could get to like it.

I didn't bother to get a tag this year because of back troubles. In the years of late, I usually got a WT tag for our areas, but never minded if I didn't get a deer. I enjoy getting out and strolling around, or hunkering down in a good patch of bullrushes and watching nature.

Hopefully next year!

I purposely chose not to take a deer this year. Out of the 5 bucks that were coming around my stands all were 2 to 3 yr. olds who needed more time to mature. I could have taken a doe as there was plenty of them around. The freezer still had a decent supply of wild meat so I thought I would just leave it be this year. It is no challenge to shoot a deer around here, the challenge is finding a good mature buck. If all the young bucks get shot obviously they don't get to be big old bucks. The deer season closed yesterday and I noticed to-day some deer were already wearing there shirts that said " I Survived the 2018 Hunting Season". I have several wolves hanging around so I am going to concentrate my efforts on getting wolf fur for a hat and mitts.

Managed to bag a WT buck with the rifle. Wanted to get something with my bow, but only managed a few grouse with arrows.
Was full draw a few times, passed on some skinny deer, and learned a lot about stalking and wind reading.
Already looking forward to next year!
