Evening,

After a lot of going back and forth I've decided to ask for some more advice :D

I never had a chance to handle Tavor or SA Black Special Target and understand that in terms of ergonomics the Tavor is the winner but can someone share their experience for a bit heavier Black Special?

I really want to use one of these puppies for weekend plinking and when SHTF scenarios:eek:

I went through the same process a few months ago. I finally decided to go with the Swiss Arms because it feels more solid. Even though polymers today are said to be as strong as steel, I still prefer metal guns. One of my favorite rifles I own is the HK USC and my biggest gripe with it is that it is mainly made of plastic.
 
I picked up a Swiss Autumnus last year, it's the bees knees. I've shot a tavor, and they're sweet and all, but I personally wasn't a fan of the trigger. In any case, they are apples and oranges other than 223, and nonres. AR mags are sweet option for taro though. In the end though, can't go wrong either way.

My sig experience was with the commando length barrel, and it was a very robust rifle. The ejected brass went nearly as far as the projectile... The only failure experienced was on course down south when the charging handle on one carbine snapped off...

I bought my first Tavor a few years ago, and haven't looked back since. I find the balance and ergonomics of the Tavor to be superior to conventional carbines, and am more than satisfied with the accuracy I can squeeze out of it.

You can't go wrong with either rifle, and if you have the means, buy both.... If I had to pick only one from your short list, it would be the Tavor.
 
The San is front heavy and truly not nearly as nice to handle as the carbine length. If you plan to off hand a lot the tavor is the better choice. The best thing about your decision is there is no bad choice. I am partial to sans for many reasons other than balance.
 
another vote for Swiss. I have never owned, handled, or even seen a Tavor in person... but from the pics, IMHO i think they are fugly. I could afford both, but not even remotely interested in Tavor just based on looks alone. I admit that's a shallow attitude, it may well be a great rifle!

I love my Swiss flat top.... Accurate as hell out to 300 so far. (Thats as far as I have shot it as yet.)

As noted, it always comes down to what the OP intends for it's use.
The Tavor is a CQB 'wizard', with more than enough accuracy for 'bad breath distance' out to 200M.
The trigger sucks ballz, but can be improved with a little 'spring surgery'.

The Swiss Arms oozes quality in terms of fit an finish, trigger pull and accuracy.
The only SA that I still have is a 14.5" carbine that has been fitted with a Lothar Walther SS barrel, with included, machined FH that is non-restricted and is barely longer than the original, restricted carbine. It also has shed a pound or so from the front of the rlfle, addressing that front-heavy handling of the full length units. This is in my 'never sell' locker.

I have bought and sold Tavors a couple of times, and have just closed the deal on yet another....I guess I truly did miss the little bugger!
