So I maxed out the credit card and made the girlfriend extremely mad, but here I sit as I type with an black xcr in 5.56 in my lap. Can't wait to get out and shoot it but I have a few questions first

How do I tell what gen it is? It has the fast stock (collapsable/foldable) and the firs few of the serial number is xl09 if that helps

I've heard of guys loctiteing some screws on the gun. Should I be doing this too?

And lastly how are you guys running slings on your xcr? Like type of sling and how your attaching them to the rifle. Im thinking I like 2 points but I'm open to all options

Thanks in advance guys. I honestly don't think I'll sleep till I get to take this rifle out and let the lead fly haha

Loctite is used on the ejector bolts. You can probably see a little bit that migrated out and onto the reciever where the bolts sit flush on the left side of the receiver. Red loctite is used and the manual recommends checking and if necessary reapplying red loctite every 5000 rds. The rest of the rifle does not need loctite. But you do. Sniff it before each range trip to heighten your situational awareness. The FAST stock has a QD swivel on the bottom of the folding mech. Its a little undersized and not all QD sockets fit it. There is no standard dimensions for QD sockets. GG&G swivels are snug and break-in to a very nice fit. Midwest Industries swivels did not fit. I used a padded VCAS and an MI QD mount at the rear of the 9 o'clock rail with a GG&G swivel in the stock. I won't run anything else now other than the MI mount. I like a handstop rather than AFG or VFG and the QD swivel was always digging into my wrist. A lower profile sling loop would be a better option for me.

Perfect. Thank you I ordered the gg&g swivel and a loop for the 9 o'clock rail as I figured this would be a nice set up for me as well.

I have one more question now haha I've notice in most videos when guys are taking the rifles down for cleaning, that when the hinge the rifle open (with the rear takedown latch only) that's their rifle only open enought to take the carrier group out. On my rifle however I can open it to almost 90 degrees (like an ar). I don't really have a need to take the front take down pin out. Just wondering why mine does that haha

What does the do the letters XCR look like on the side of the magwel (its machined). Is it just plain bolt type with no other writing? Or is it more stylistic outline looking type?. If its plain bold type (no style at all) then its an older gen gun. Not sure exactly HOW old, but older. If its a nice looking script its a newer gen (again, not exactly WHAT gen, but newer for sure).
