I've tried the VQ extractor on my 10/22RR and 22/45 Mk III with great success. It was a cheap and very effective upgrade that pretty much made stovepipes history on the 10/22. Because I was so pleased with it, and I knew I was going to build another 10/22 in the near future, I ordered a spare set of VQ extractor, extended mag release, and auto bolt release, and just kept the parts in my drawer waiting to score a deal on another 10/22.
Well, finally scored the 10/22 today and put it into my Tapco stock...and for the first time the VQ extractor was the one giving me grief. It won't install into the bolt properly. It gets stuck in the slot and takes some reefing to get it back out. In the position where it is free to pivot, the tooth doesn't stick out far enough to grab the case.
Ended up using the VQ spring on the OEM extractor as the spring tension seems much better. We'll see how well it works when I get a chance to go to the range. The OEM extractor wasn't all that bad on this one to begin with anyway...which makes me wonder if ordering another VQ one is worth the effort.
