Finally got my elk draw, Need help

I finally nabbed my either ### elk tag, 15 tag zone so feeling lucky. I have hunted cows before but that is in December and is mostly stalking. This will be my first time hunting in September and calling. Looking for any advice for what calls to look at or any tips in general. I have called in many moose and coyotes but never an elk so pretty pumped at the opportunity.

A word of advise...don't go to the Saskatoon zoo and practice on their bulls...I have a cousin who tried that and after the zoo staff got their bulls safely re-penned back away from the spectator fence and calmed down they escorted my cousin out the gate and basically told him to never come back...ever...

First, you can fool their ears and eyes with calls and decoys, but cannot fool their noses! Watch the wind, ALWAYS!
Use good scent control products and practices.
They are going to want to see and smell what they have been hearing when they do come in to investigate your calling.
I have used the elk scents (cow in heat and bull) from Buck Bomb in combination with the Montana elk decoys successfully for several years.
As for calls, the Primos bugles are easy to learn to use. And you do not have to be perfect to be effective. And you do not have to sound like the biggest bull in the woods either. But do not over call from your vehicle or atv. Get away from them, and listen for bit before calling. Many people over call and the bulls are wise to this!
Your cow calls are your most effective. But do not use just one call, in the same way all the time. For mouth calls, if you cannot use a diaphram call, I really like the Primos Cowgirl and I Maka Da Bull Crazy and the Berry's Sleazy Cow Call. For a squeeze call, I prefer the Carlton Squeeze Me call, as you can vary the calls as opposed to the Primos squeeze call that can only produce one call consistently.
For great elk hunting video and practices, the Primos The Truth elk hunting vids are probably the best to watch and learn from.

I was drawn in 2017 and first morning we walked into an area in the dark and called. It started raining and nothing came in so we walked back to the truck and had to take a different way out because of the rain. We drove over the second hill and we were busted by two bulls two cows. My cousin said "We're screwed now now" I said "yup, call anyway". He called out the truck window and one bull started into the truck so I casually got out walked 50 yards behind the hill and waited. Another little bull appeared out of no where and started circling the truck and didn't leave after I shot the first one. I had to go back to the truck to scare him away and it took quite a bit to do it to. He actually came back and harassed the truck while we gutted my elk over the hill. It was one of my funnest hunts and it was on farm land so its not like we fooled their eyes or noses. Maybe they caught the eye of the ram on the hood and fell in love.
