Well I finally got my Vortex Razor mounted on my Savage LR rig. I got it mounted and leveled, tomorrow I head to the range for bore sighting and some shooting! I can hardly wait, I have been looking through this baby for months now and it has been killing me not to shoot it! So I will post more pics from the range tomorrow and give a report too. Here is a pic...

Nice setup. How does the scope compare to S&B?

I have never owned a S&B, I looked through one several years ago and I do recall being impressed with the glass. But I have never had both scopes side by side to do a comparison. I have talked to the folks at Vortex and they tell me the Razor is made in Japan, and that they are using the very best glass that Japan has to offer. I like it because it has a 35 mm tube that gives 125 MOA of internal adjustment, it has the zero stop feature, first focal plane laser etched illuminated reticle, and an outstanding warranty.

Go figure eh? I finally get it mounted up for a range day today, and we have heavy snow!:(

Nice. Shouldn't the level sit behind the turret though?

That's an interesting question. This is what I learned recently...I used to mount my levels exactly as you described--behind the turret. But I had to move my head to see the level, and by the time I got my head back behind the scope, the rifle would have moved, making me move my head again to recheck. However, with the level in front, you can see the level if you shoot with both eyes open. The level actually appears to be INSIDE the scope in the upper right quadrant (right eye shooter). This way, I do not have to move my head as it is my left eye that sees the level. When I am about to make the shot, I can either leave my left open or close it and the level disappears.

Glad I asked! I've been wanting to pick one up for my varmint rig and would have learned the hard way to mount it where you have it now. I usually shoot with both eyes open for my rifle and archery anyways and can picture what you said.
