Ever since my daughter started shooting with me 3 years ago I have wanted to get her a CZ457 Scout. But could never find one for sale and ones I did find where way out there in price. So she ended up with a pink Rascal instead. She absolutely loved that rascal and shot it a fair bit even beefing dad a few times in our little Sunday challenges. But eventually she just wanted something with a magazine and a stock better suited to being scoped. So in spring i started hunting for a scout again then considered an American rimfire compact and finally decided I’d just build up my 10/22 take down for her with a shorter stock and some assorted goodies. And she loves it. It’s not as accurate as the rascal but it’s more than acceptable for her at the 25 yards she generally shoots so I thought I was done.

My intent was to then just paint that pink rascal for my now 5 year old son to use.

But lo and behold while browsing out of boredom I found a new scout for sale at one of the site sponsors. Well I had to get it despite really not needing a third child sized rifle. So my boy is now the proud owner of a very fine little CZ 457 Scout (seems the rascal will remain pink and hang around for memories sake). I mounted up a rimfire vortex crossfire II 2-7x32 I had laying around and will get out to zero it in for him later this week. I gotta say these are sharp quality feeling little rifles. It’s now the third 457 in my safe if this performs as good as my others I’m sure my little man’s going be super happy and make his sister jealous.

Hope to get him out to the range in a couple weeks.

Had a great first range trip with the scout and the little guy. He is one super happy little man. He has proudly explained his new gun is way easier than the pink one and way better than Even dads (my cz457).

Rifle is quite the little tac driver. With the cheap Aguila we fed it.

Little man did quite well and the look of accomplishment when he hit the bullseye is worth 10x the cost of the rifle. My daughter was here 3 years ago. And now having him joining the ranks makes me one super proud dad.

Fine rifles, I might know a guy who has a 457 Scout in a 457 American stock! ;)

BUT....there is a little one in the family again.....so Great Uncle 22LRGUY is back looking at Rascals for when these tiny fingers are old enough to squeeze a trigger.
