This summer my buddy just went on and on about how much more effective .17s are on gophers, so I folded and bought one.
Wanted something handy and found out that a shorter barrel gives up very little velocity and decided on a short barrelled Savage. Added some parts I had on the stock, new muzzle brake that deflects the noise forward.
Cannot say enough about the accuracy.
Hold over is nothing compared to my old .22s.
Used the .17 out past 100 yards with ease, and the .22 Ruger for shorter distances, love my rimfire combo.
Have bunch of very graphic gopher hits, but do not want to cause any grief by posting them.
Pics from today shooting with a buddy.
