Went to Cabelas on Saturday and this followed me home. Beretta 686 Onyx off the used the rack. Not sure how used it is as it still has tags hanging off of it and the breech face shows no signs of rounds being fired in it. Hoping I didn't get hosed on the price but it just fits. Had to come brag, I've been drawing down on the duck on my calendar all day!

Don't worry about it. If you are happy, that is all that matters.

Based on how pristine it is...especially the sides of the action where it pivots it looks brand new to me. Anything less than new list price was a good deal. Enjoy for life and pass it on to the next generation!

Your key words were "it fits", and, in my completely biased opinion, the word " beretta" is key too! I have one that looks identical but it's an ultralight, which is my grouse and woodcock gun, and a beautiful 687 silver pigeon II that is my pheasant, clays, and showing off gun. Welcome to the club, you sure joined it in style!

Well it sure hasn't been used much !

Can't imagine why someone would go to all the trouble of putting the hang tags back on it, unless it was purchased and traded-back-in without
being shot. Also wonder about the Beretta USA tag ... Berettas in this country come from Stoeger Canada - this one may have migrated north
from Cabela's stateside inventory. ( None of which matters, by the way !! )

Enjoy ... a good robust design that you can shoot with confidence for years. Mobil choke model I assume ? A nice set of Victory extended Mobil chokes
might be a good idea if your going to shoot any amount of Clay targets. I've shot literally hundreds of patterns with Beretta choke tubes as well as a number
of aftermarket makes, and have measured a great many with a micrometer bore gauge. I'll stick with either OE Beretta Mobil or Optimas ... they work just fine !

Invest in a good quality grease and lubricating oil and use it, sparingly. Get someone to show you how to remove the extractors to clean & lubricate them properly too!
(Use a rag or cloth to do so ... those extractors are sharp !) Externally, G-96 has kept all of mine like new. A good wipe-down, especially right after use on a hot humid day
is essential.

My 687 Silver Pigeon V. It was a demo gun and could be of a similar origin to yours.

This one has an old finish on the stock. Any ideas what to use on this? Finish is getting a little dry?

Quick route, buff surface clean with 0000 Steel Wool......apply Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil (using fingers)....the grain will spring out! I like the case color on the Beretta receiver.
