I don't want this to be a dissertation but there is no amount of words that can help me describe the great fun, learning, and challenge I had shooting this match. I wish there were more civvies participating but the company of soldiers was an honor and a treat. Side by side with their C7A1s and my M14 was quite a sight.

Finally meeting TimK and Hungry was a reward. These guys are gold. You guys run a tight and very professional operation. I'd fight in your army anytime.

How'd I do? Decent for my first time. I was learning the ropes more than anything. As Hungry said, "make the mistakes and learn from it here", was true to every word. I will do much better next time I shoot. I finally shot my rifle beyond 200 meters and that by itself was a cool.

Now I know why the gear and clothing needs to be planned. There are tons of thing that could go wrong during the match. Being prepared is one of the unique exercises that one practices in this match. That's why a load bearing vest or webbing make sense. I finally got it. It's really a great place to test what can work well in the field if you are going to a fight.

More than anything, I finally found a shooting match that will help me become a better marksman with my rifle. The shooting relays are more than I expected. Running 200 yards then engaging targets while trying to catch your breath is really, really cool. There is just so much this shooting match offers an individual, I do not know where to start to describe them.

Oh, the M14. It rocked!! Maybe it was a bit slower at the speeder section of relays, but with technique and tenacity, I'm going to tame that beast to shoot fast, My IER scout set up also performed well as expected. It did well in the deliberates (slow accurate firing) and found it's target very quickly in the snaps, rapid, and run down. I'm good with the set up. Just a few tweaks needed.

Before I forget. The food was awesome. I felt very spoiled by the great accommodations. If this is how they eat in the military, I'm in!!

Try it out people!!!

Pics: Carefully chosen pics to hide operators identities and yours truly. Try to figure out who is Hungry.

Hey, there I am.... the bottom 3 pictures. Shzt... I thought I lost a lot more weight than that.

Ton45: I had a great time showing you the ropes. Now you know how we in Ontario run a Service Rifle match. Now if we could only get out a tenth of the GTA black rifle owners to quit admiring themselves and their CQB rigs in the mirror, we could really show you all how to shoot your black rifle or operator rigs with your matching LMT A4 or M4 receiver cuts.

Yes, the food is always great at Connaught. There is a reason my handle of "Hungry" is so..... :p That's always half the fun.

It was a pleasure meeting you ton
and it seems you already learned the most important rule of competitive shooting

Being a good sport is just as important as being a good shot.

as for myself my scores have been better, I was dog tired and late (sorry guys) but I loved it thanks for the good time to all
