Phil was in my neck of the woods this weekend and we took his loaded out for it's initial range session after it was bedded.
After Phil got the sights dialed in for 100, I got my chance to try it at 100, using irons off the bench. I was using his loads. I can't remember the recipe but they were working very well. I managed to pull off a 1.590" group.
Then I tried my 125 grain TNT's and they didn't fare so well. Eight round in 2.748".
I then shot prone, slung up with a cotton web sling and scored a 97-6X.
I tried to convince him to let me slap on the Bassett/Bradley combo I had but he just wanted to keep it old-school so we did not shoot it with glass. I would say that we were probably the limiting factor today. I haven't shot iron sights in position in about a year so I was a bit rusty. In addition, not many people know this but I dislocated my left shoulder back in May. The prone position was agony for me and I had to fight to keep my sights and shoulder in place.
I never really settled into a good position in the prone, but I was satisfied with the score. I need to get back on the mat and sharpen that skill again.
Phil said he was happy with how the rifle was performing and that's all that mattered.
