Hello all,
many sleeps ago you will remember Nuggets classic tale of going on a cat hunt. Long story short, we finally got the media reformatted to actually work with it and get it to you. Since it has taken so long, here is first the link to the origonal story, with a short clip being the second link for your viewing pleasure.

The video is very short so even the most modest of dial up users can enjoy it.

Many thanks to Vic for his help flanging up the video reformatting. I have a longer version but I don't know how well 25mb would work for all of us. Even comes complete with a little gunners interlude.:p

All I can say is it is a good thing Dan made a perfect shot or I would be breaking some bad news to my sister as he narrowly missed being sliced and diced. The cat ends up expiring right wher Dan and Jason (camera man) fell over eachother in their escape attempt. I wish there was enough room to show Jason on his knees with a bad case of the heaves, too much adreniline in his system I rekon.:D
It sure wasn't funny when it happened but Nugget and I had a hard time not laughing everytime we looked at eachother for the whole weekend. Most likely laughing in disbelief we all came out of it unscathed!

Enjoy in moderation guy's 'n Gals!

That's a great clip. Not a "G" rated sound track, and I'd bet it smelled bad on the ride home...from poo in the shorts. How big was the cat? I watched a 6' cougar walk past my camp site in Northern Sask a couple years ago. Very confident looking animal.

The Tom was 6'9" and 136lbs. We stopped by a butcher shop before we got home to weigh it. Jason had been on his tracks for 10 miles the day before, just following it, not chasing and it hadn't eaten the whole time,it was one hungry kitty. Could have easily been 30 lbs heavier with a tummy full of bambi.

Definetely not a "G" rating on the clip. Sorry.
It just wouldn't be the same without Jason's comments and screaming bloody murder.
Wouldn't take any time for some jerk to come along and say this was a staged performance.

TTYAL!

I don't know what woud worry me more, the cat making it 's move in my direction or the fact that my reaction's might soon be broadcast throughout cyberspace by the camera man.

Do you want me to drive on Sunday Noel?

SWEET VIDEO!!! Thanks very much for posting it!!!

Hey... Just a suggestion... Maybe shoot the next one from somewhere "other" than the bottom of the tree the cat's in, ha ha ha... I'd say 50 meters would give you and the dogs time to sort out the impending CHARGE!!!

Tough Critters Those Cats...

Cheers

this is a gun forum...what did you shoot it with???

Dan used his Grandpa's Belgium Browning BAR in 270 with some of his Grampa's cast lead loads. All this info is in the link to the origonal story but hey, why not tell it again!:D

Jarrod, I don't mind driving at all, my truck is still a mud ball from going out to the Ya Ha last weekend, will be good times!

I hear you with which one could be worse. He was trying to do a promo video and was disappointed it turned out that way, hence his comment,"That is some film I did not want!"
I'm kind of shocked but you can even hear me laughing in the background after he ran through the brush. I guarantee I was not laughing at all when the cat reared up and was swinging it's steak knives at Dan's chest coming maybe within two feet of connecting. YIKES!!!!!!

'Ol Nugget is working the graveyard shift tonight and he will be chiming in around the six or seven o'clock mark. I will let him give his rendition since he was much more personally involved.:p

Sounds good Noel. I'm rigging up my led boresight and I'll get on the paper before we head out.

Its amazing when you look back at things how you might have done things different. We sure didn't leave ourselves much room between the cat and us. But if we had we may not have had this great story. No one was hurt and I'll remember this once in a lifetime hunt forever. I still can't watch this video without laughing my guts off. The only regret I have is not having another camera with a different angle. I wished I could have seen my face!! Cheers guys! Thanks for your comments.

PS I think my wife washed my shorts 3 or 4 times before finally throwing them away!:)

I remember that story. Thanks for sharing the video! That's a story you'll be telling for a lifetime and will be passed down through generations. ;)

Yeah that is an excellent vid-clip Noel...
You squeal real good Nugget... real good!
That was golden... I am still laughing.

That was the camera man squealing not me!! I'm sure my mouth was open but nothing was coming out. I was to stunned to really do anything except laugh when I realized the cat was dead! I was alittle uncertain about the hand loaded rounds I was using only because I had never shot one yet. I found them when going through some of my grandpas things that were past down to me. You may think this risky but it was his gun and I have used other handloaded rounds of his, just not ones with cast lead bullets. I had 3 of my actual hunting loads in the magazine beneath. Needless to say after I took the shot the next couple of seconds were a bit of a blurr and I had things running through my mind like: what did I just do!, Maybe I shouldn't have used that round!, This is really gonna hurt!! etc. As it turned out the round work verywell, thank God!, and I have a memory engraved in my mind forever( almost litterally).Chow!
