Finally, Nugget gets chased by a cat clip!

Howdy Joe!

There were three hounds. One had some experience and the other two were pups, pretty green. They were trailing the experienced one most of the way. One pup was scared at making the 12'+ jump to the frozen river so we had to carry her down.

The first time they treed the Tom, it went up a big poplar tree, then jumped out without the hounds knowing it. Suprising enough it was one of the pups that led Jason to where the cat was in the big spruce where the clip was taken. Jason thought it was a wild goose chase until he looked up and saw the cat sitting right in front of him!:runaway: Gave him a bit of a scare.
The way he was moving around in that tree hissing and snarling while I took pics he wasn't far from opening the can of whoop-up for sure. Had he not kept knocking twigs on my Tamron lens I would have gotten a few more shots of him.

Dave, glad you like the clip so much, I know Dan and I have a good giggle every time it comes up too, after the fact anyway.......

You had the dogs tied back at the shot I presume? Good idea cause it keeps them safe but........ in that instance might have been nice to have em mob the Tom;) . Hindsight 20/20. That's a hilarios video thank you for posting it. Andy

horshur, yes, Gary was holding all the dogs at bay while Dan and Jason prepared to get badly tangled with one another trying to get out of the way.

I wasn't far away, when the cat got it's footing after landing it looked like I was the one who was going to get the brunt of the attack but in his lunge to the closest cover he turned toward Dan. It was a close call, Dan was afraid to fire again since cats and people were all scrambling different directions.
Good thing he kept his thoughts in order, it could have easily gone really bad,
too easily!
It would boggle your mind to see where Jason ran through the little hedge of spruce during his profanity, it was so thick!

Glad you guys enjoy it.

I knew this thread should not have died so early. I have been on a few cat hunts when I was younger, but none as exciting as the great video posted here.

I would have loved to have been there :)

Went on this one....

I remember the story from earlier this year but never saw the video until now so I'm glad this thread got ressurected. Great story and great video.

I don't hunt cats but I definitely have them on my mind whenever I am out hunting in K-Country, would hate to have one think I was dinner and that video just reinforces that thought :D
