Finally picked up a 1911A1 (AO)

So a last night I got my first 1911. Its a 1911A1 made my auto ordenance. Can anyone give me some info on this company, on this gun as well?
I have to wait a couple weeks to get it and cant wait.

I did a little research but didnt find a whole lot. I found out its a good reliable shooter. Thats why I bought it. Just wanted to know some of the history.

Auto Ordnance 1911A1's

Pre-Kahr ownership quality control on the AO 1911A1's left a lot to be desired. A whole lot. Personally owned one circa 1992. Was NIB and was a POS right outta the box. Got rid of it PDQ. Never cared to own another one. There are lots of bad reviews on pre-Kahr ownership AO 1911A1's on the 'Net.

Post-Kahr ownership they seemed to have picked up their socks. The new model Auto Ordnance 1911A1 GI model is very, very nice. Gotta say I almost bought one.
