Finally shot my 700

I finally got out and shot my Rem 700 AAC-SD yesterday. I bought cheap Win 180 gr. Power Points, scope is a Falcon Menace 4-16X44 from Allen Gun Works. I figured I would try a break-in procedure and cleaned after every shot for the first 9 or so rounds, copper fowling coming out fairly easy, however the group was about 6 inches. After that I shot two consecutive three shot groups cleaning in between, both about 4 inch groups. Suddenly the last two 3 shot groups tightened up to 1-1/4. Breathing a sigh of relief thinking I might have a “lemon” I figured maybe “breaking-in” a factory barrel has some legitimacy. I'll see if I can post some pics.

good to hear, i just bought a rem 700 aswell thats got 10 rounds down the pipe so i look forward to getting out with mine. what range were you shooting those groupings at?
 
100 yards, 933', 0 celcious 977 mb of pressure, I'm guessing the wind at 2mph into the face. I'm pretty new to long range shooting so this should be a long learning process.

Probably not. Some people told me to record every bit of info at the range as possible. I'm not a great shot so the atmopheric pressure probably won't effect me much but what the heck, my GPS has the elivation and pressure on it so I figured I'd record it in my log.

oh i gotcha you just threw out numbers you saw on the gps, now i dont feel as bad, lol. ill learn as i go.

what are your goals for range? id ideally like to touch 1000 yards and feel like a man, but ill work on the closer shots for now :)

Pretty much the same as yours. Slowly make changes alog the way, think I'll try a stock after I shoot some reloads.
