Hi folks,

Well that was a long refurb. Started some time last year.

Got it all nice and done a first time. Many parts from this refurb came from CGN member Andy (thanks!). Went to the range, it keyholed even with oversized bullets. Got it to Jason (Gunco) in Ottawa, we tried counterboring it a few inches; still keyholed. So, let's change the barrel.

Got a spare barrel Vimy Ridge (thanks!), shipped this to Beater who swapped the barrels (thanks!).

Got the parts back here, reassembled it all, then put the bolt in... which didn't close.

After great input from many here (thanks!), I learned that there were two variations of bolts and barrels for the P14 (the ones with a "*" and the ones without).

After more input (again: thanks!), I modified the bolt, now it closes on the barrel and I reassembled it all. Here she is, finished - well almost. I'm still short of one front band screw, and the rear sight retaining pin and nut are buggered up. Pblatzz, expect a PM soon :)

M.Peanut, I left the metal as-is; I try to be as non-intrusive as possible whe I refurb. But sometimes I will reblue a spare band or screw, to match the original bolt / receiver / barrel.

Thanks Beater. I used an electric wet-stone knife sharpener on the bolt lug to have a smooth and cold grinding, and that way I could keep the bolt straight too, perpendicular to the revolving stone. I went a bit at a time, trying it in the rifle often. I wonder when I'll get the guts to try it out at the range though.

My dad has one of these. My bro and I took it and my No4 M1* to the range 2 weeks ago and it was pretty fun to shoot. Too bad my dads was bubba'd.

Yea, it wouldn't be too bad. Really all my Dad's needs is the front wood as it is sporterized and then the metal clamps.

Don't know where I would find such things though.

Hello lou

Lou im about to syntheticly sporterize a p-14 , i have no need for all that wood and metal bands. I also have a p-14 minus bolt ,complete wood, barrel shot out though. And a friend of my families is looking to sell me a p-14 complete . if you know any body feel free to contact me.
