Been fussing around and been asking on here and asking over there what ideas people has for building vice jaws for barrels.

Was in the holiest of hardware (PrincessAuto) looking for one particular item then dawned on me to browse and see if they had anything I could use to make these jaws.

Through the trailer section I went and found these bumpers for boats.

A Ukrainian eye measurement and off to the table saw and into the press to drill some 1/2" holes to counter sink the magnets.

Mix some Proform epoxy.

Fill holes and set in magnets.Careful, they pulled themselves together full of black sticky goo nice. ;) pull then apart and fiddled them back in.

,

Clean up extra epoxy with thinner.

Their new home when needed.

$20.00 investment.

Wicked home project. I have some delrin that I made to cover mine, but just had elastics to hold them in place. The magnets are just what I needed (there are a bunch around here somewhere). I see you enjoy the "good stuff" as well. I have a couple dozen Boh on the shelf in my pantry; always a must on the return trip into SK.

If you want to increase the grip, rubber supply houses have a heavy rubber foam, grips like crazy. Just glue a 1" thick pad to each side your in business. Great idea using the bumpers.
