Finally got my .17 out punching more then paper, took some pics of the nastier ones. Looking forward to trying it again with the new Nikon scope and some 20grain rounds. I hadn't shot it all winter and forgot it prefers to eat them over 17grain. I think I would have bagged more but the scope I was using the center dot of the scope completely covered the smaller gophers at anything past 100yds. Looking forward to trying it with the new smaller crosshairs of the new Nikon.

Just make sure he trys a few different type of ammo. The Savages seem to be a bit picky about what they eat. A friend has the exact same model as mine but gets better groups with 17 grain where mine shoot smaller groups with the 20 grain.

My BVTS likes the Hornady 20 gr. Hollows. Quite accurate in the right conditions.
