I had an appointment today at my Dentist who happens to be an avid reloader. After taking care of business, we started talking shop. Gun shop that is! :p

He has been telling me that I should be looking into reloading for a while and I have. I've read some stuff here and on other forums. I've also watched a bunch of instructional videos on you tube.

I told him that I recently sold a few firearms to finance other gun related projects, like reloading and that I needed advice on where to start. We talked about the Lee anniversary kit, the Lee classic loader and some other stuff that I found a too pricey. Then, he scratched his head, pulled a Le Baron catalog from his office desk (no joke!) and he pointed out the RCBS Partner Press reloading kit.:)

The price was good and the RCBS name inspired confidence so I told him I would check it out. The first thing I did when I came home was to call Le Baron in Ottawa to see if they had any in stock, since they never have crap in store.

"We have one left", came the answer on the line. It was 17h15 and he told me that they were closing in 45 minutes. Well, I almost got a speeding ticket on the way there, but I made it in time. The kit was waiting for me there with my name on the box!:dancingbanana:

I picked up a #3 shell older a 3-die carbide set in .45 ACP and a Rcbs bullet puller on top of the Partner kit. At the register, the "Club Le baron" membership card paid for itself and even took 5$ off the bill.

I am one happy trucker, now all I need are bullets and some powder!:D

I mean it when I say that you have done 2 things:

1.) Made the best decision possible regarding a total increase in the enjoyment and success you get from your love for firearms.

2.) Began a whole new addiction that involves sleepless nights tossing and turning over load densities, case prep techniques, seating depth, ogive measurements, relative powder burn rates and other arcane bits of knowledge.

Good on ya.

I'm right with you, just picked up my rockchucker supreme master reloading kit on Sat and the bench that was on sale at canadian tire for $79.99(reg$199.99) today. Also picked up #3 and #10 shell holders and some 55gr Vmax but could not find the primers I am looking for. Already have rcbs dies for .22 250 and .270 so just need a set for .223, some powder and primers and I should be set to go!!!!

The Partner press is a good one.

When using a single stage press you have to size a bucket of cases, then neck expand them all and then throw the power charges and seat bullets in them. So each case goes into the press 3 separate times.

You will find it handy to collect some 1 or 2 liter plastic containers (like for ice cream) to hold the cases as you go from one step to the next. I use a small plastic tray from a diet TV dinner to hold the shells and bullets I am trying to pick up. The edges are only 1" high. As the shells come out of the press I throw them into a bigger container.

I have 2 liter ice cream containers on my bench labelled for each pistol caliber I shoot to hold the empties when I come home from the range. When one of them gets near full, I load them all. I have 1 thousand cases of each caliber.
