Hello, I'm new to the forum. I am doing some research on the CZ 527 7.62x39 and 557 ranger in 308. I read good things about them, but when I checked to see if extra magazines were available I could not find any besides on Ebay. Could this be problem with mags and parts with cz going to the new 600 series. Thank you in advance

With both platforms now being discontinued, finding new magazines will be far and few between.

I reccomend buying one of the new 600 line if you havent already purchased a 527/557.

I just picked up some mags from Prophet River. Yes, they are scarce. Looking for over a year. Try various CGN dealers, and ask to have your name added to a wanted list. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, so if I get one I'd have to stock up on everything now. Are the rifles worth it? Or would it make more sense to get a new generation cz, tikka, bergara etc

The 527 is worth it to me but it's all personal preference really.
Mine is a .223
In googling CZ527 Canada, three different retailers came up showing the 7.62x39 in stock.

Hard to beat a 527 for a quality mini action.
CRF, all steel, no plastic anywhere, accurate, great triggers.

I had Wolverine order me some 7.62x39 mags a while back, took a couple months but the price was much better then I'm seeing anywhere else.

They're nice rifles and nice mags, worth chasing down. The bulk of my centerfire/rifle experience is with Tikka, Savage and CZ. If the caliber is available and the budget has a little flexibility, I'd personally pick a Tikka over a CZ 527. The CZs have a lovely, old-school charm and the ones I've shot have been accurate with decent triggers. I'd personally love to have one of the 7.62x39 carbines in a synthetic stock, too many (gun/scope) priorities ahead of it unfortunately. lol

The cz527 is definitely still worth getting. The 7.62x39 carbine is still amazing bang for the buck at under 1000$.

You'll have to look around for the real 557 range (the one with the straight beech stock and iron sights) as I don't think anyone has new ones in stock any longer. I would not want the newer range without sights and the Bavarian stock since you have to use a scope. You'll end up with a sub optimal cheek weld.

527 mags still pop up. 557 10 rounders not so much. The UK source is out. I wasn't able to find any from cz.

I appreciate all the advice, I've been thinking long about it. I think I'm going to either wait for the new 600 series or go with a Bergara Ridge. I like being able to do some mods. Thank you

Just bought a used 527 in 7.62 x 39 which I'm excited to shoot and I also have a 557 ranger rifle. The 557 is an absolute dream to shoot, handy and accurate. I bought a 4 round mag for a a couple years ago from wolverine which at the time was pretty pricey. I've seen some 527's available I believe on gotenda and g4c and some other stores in the greater Toronto area.

Any further luck/input on finding a 4 rounds 308 magazine? Will soon have my 557 "Range" with 10 rounds mag (it is not the Canadian Ranger version, I believe it is a euro spec with pic rail and walnut stock, no sights). Any chance someone might be willing to "switch" between my 10 rounds and a 4 rounds? It is a hunting rifle, so don't need 10 rounds...
