I'm looking for inexpensive lead shot for reloading shotshells in the B.C. Lower Mainland.
The price of commercial lead shot from retailers has gotten too expensive.
Is there anyone making it themselves around here?
I know that Vancouver Gun club used to mine it, but they were shut down.
Any info would be great!
Kind Regards, Henry

Try giving European ams a call. They had a pallet load way in the back last time I was there. It's been there for years, they may give you a good price.

I guess since Rene passed nobody has taken up the job of reclaiming the shot.

Here in Alberta retail is $50.00 plus GST. One of our local shooters brings some in and sells for $42 tax in.

I wish someone would mine the shot out of the aheia range at Calgary. I could sure use a deal. I think that mixed deformed stuff would be fine for skeet and singles practice.

I make my own, bought the unit a few years ago, it works very well. www.littletonshotmaker.com

A talented guy could make one of these, I thought they were a little pricey but it was faster to buy. Remember to be careful melting lead, its hot and sticks as well and produces toxic fumes.

I was told that someone contacted a government office about enviromental concerns. They sent someone there and did some water sampling and found lead in it. Then shut down the reclaiming.

Tagged for interest.
I'd be looking for a couple hundred lbs for ballast. Has to be reasonably fine 7-9 size would be good, 12 would be better); but it doesn't have to be clean.

I would think that reclaiming more lead out of there would solve or reduce the lead in the water problem, unless water is used to reclaim?
