Bought a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x30 scope for my new Savage Mk II however I am finding it tough to locate the rail. Amazon has a 0 MOA EGW for 90 and change. Seems a bit high when the same rail is on the EGW site in US dollars for $39. Prefer to avoid Amazon anyway so can anyone recommend a place in the GTA that sells these? Thanks.

Im not sure whether or not I can tag non sponsor business' so all I will say is google Weaver #16 base. There a few places in the GTA that stock them.

Hey gi -
Weaver makes a one-piece base for Savage MkII rifles. It is code 601 (48304). They are about $17 at a Cabelas, and I'm sure any LGS can order them in if not in stock. I use this one myself, they give you a lot of options for scope mounting location.

Go with the Weaver Bases.

When I was scoping a Rascal, Cabela's said there were only the "Propriety bases at a cost of $30.
They were so close together they were literally touching the scope adjustments.
Thy were not happy with me returning them but that is the price of giving bad information.

I just bought an MDT 20 moa rail from cabelas (80 bucks) 2 days ago, and a set of Leupold PRW2 30mm medium rings (100 bucks)from a local shop. Both seem very nice so far, but only put about 300 rds through the rifle.

Kind of an impulse buy after work that day, Cabelas had heavy barrel mk2s on for 329. I have an older one that I really like shooting with a Bushnell 3-9 (DIP 0moa rail) but wanted to put another rifle together. I like the ergos on the Savage action.

Put a Bushnell Match Pro on it and after zeroing it at 50 it was doing some nice groups with SK standard +.

I haven't tried anything else in it yet, it was too much fun calling shots and dinging the steel targets.

"4th gopher, nose." I know 50 yds is not a great stretch but it was a good first day.

Edge might go to the DIP rail as it's shorter so you'd be able to use lower rings. The MDT is longer than necessary and I had to use medium height rings to clear front and back.

Just my opinion though, lot of variables to consider when fitting parts.

The 0 MOA EGW base is a much nicer base than the Weaver.

I'd say 0 MOA is all you'd need if shooting inside if 200 yds

I like using 2 piece bases, because it gives you clearance to clear jams, ETC. I mean my Anschutz I run weaver bases, but I also run Burris Signature ZEE rings. I like having the option to change the MOA, without changing the bases. Plus if I want to give myself more adjustment, you just have the cam the inserts.

i bought weaver quad lock rings off amazon for my Mark II FVSR. mine has a rail and using low weaver rings i still have a few mil left over to clear my 50mm objective. Oh, they where 22$ with free shipping (prime)
