Finding the age of a prohib.

Any websites out there for finding a gun's age based on serial #. My grandpa has a couple 12(6) peices, and i would like to find out if they are pre '46. One being a browning, and a couple walthers.

Walthers with this marking were made during and pre-WWII.

Those made in Ulm, Germany were made after the war so I've been told.

How do we know? I was told the original factory was obliterated in the last year of WWII.

I will have to go bug grandpa to crack the safe, i know he has a PPK in there.

I would think that Nazi Germany markings would also be reason to think that they are pre 1946.

The Blue Book of Gun Values shows that some of the early and wartime PPK's are quite valuable, particularly those made for party leaders during the Nazi years. The most prolific examples seem to be .32's which have the lowest values, but .22's, .25's, and .380's are all listed and command much higher prices.
