Finish on Norc 2 tone

Does anyone know what the finish is on the sliver part of the Norc 1911? Is the metal the same as the others,simply painted or coated to appear silver? I may refinish mine when I get it, and was curious as to what I might use to do it. I intend to smooth and polish it a bit when I get it,knock of some of the rough and sharp edges. If the silver finish is tough and durable,I may forgo the effort and leave things be. However,if it's just paint,and I can maybe duracote or something, I'd like to try.

If you take a surf on some of the dealer's sites, the sales info says hard chrome.

Its hard chrome.It is durable and you will F#%k it up if you take sand paper or a file to it.
