Well, I just finished sanding down my old beat up Cooey Model 75 stock.

The question is, what now?

Do I try to keep it original looking and do a dark brown finish? Or laminate, light stain, dark stain? So many options!

So, what would you do? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Something my family uses on old wood, and I use on my 60 year old Mossbergs, an old Enfield, and a Scotish pumpkin pine chest made in my wifes family back in the 1700's.

Three equal parts of beeswax, turpentine, and boiled linseed oil. Melt the beeswax in a 2lb coffee can, then mark the level inside the can. Pour the beeswax into another container, and then add equal parts of turp, and linseed oil, and mix it up. When done, you'll have a paste that's a bit softer than shoe polish. Just rub it in with your hands. The friction from your hands will help it soak in, and you can stop/start whenever you want. When you're ready to stop, just let it sit for a few hours, and buff it with a terry cloth towel, and your good to go .

BTW don't store the linseed oil soaked rags in the house...they have been known to spontaneously com-bust under certain situations.

I'm sure there will be lots more recipies showing up.
I hope this helps. :)
