Finnish Mosins are made from recycled Russian receivers. That said the receiver could have been made in Russia, France or the USA.

From the late 1920s the Finns started making their own barrels and refining the Mosin's trigger. I have also read that rifles weren't considered fit for service unless they had a minimum of 1 MOA accuracy.

In a word, yes. Finn rifles were cobbled together, but were tuned to a level the Russians never dreamed of. The receivers are usually shimmed, the barrels are more consistently bored, the sights are graduated more realistically and the trigger pulls are excellent compared to a Russian stock trigger.

The Finns did pay attention to accuracy and their Mosins are definitely a cut above the norm.I have a Finnish Tikka barrel on my M27 and it is an exceptionally accurate piece,in spite of the rather crude rear sight. On this particular variant the forestock was a 2 piece affair made of jointed beechwood. Funny thing about this rifle was that a fellow literally begged me to buy it from him for $60 at a show about 18 yrs ago.A nice bonus is that the M27 barrel shoots .308 bullets in reloads very well.

Finnish M/N

If you look at one of the Finnish MNs types, the M39, it is a much better rifle than an original Russian MN. It is shorter and handier, balances well, uses a blade bayonet, the rear sight is protected from knocks, the front sight has ears, which help accuire a target. And it is not sighted with the bayonet attached as the original MN. In my opinion the M39 it in the class of Kar 98k.

Sako rebarreled a lot of them marked SKY.The 28/30 are cosidered the most accurate of the lot.Simo Hayha [Finn sniper] killed over 500 Russians in the Winter War that lasted 105 days and another 200 unconfirmed kills with this gun.............most Finn rifles are .308 bore........................Harold
