I stumbled across a Mosin Nagant today, here are some pics. What can you tell me about it? Thanks.

Refurbed russian 91/30's are $140 at SIR, but you can find them on consignment for less than $100 at alot of gunshops. That's a Finnish capture (SA stamp on it) 91/30 missing the rear sling swivle (should be the same as the front), they don't really command any premium.
If it's all matching with a mint bore and no import stamps, you might get $150 for it here on the board, that's on the high end though.......

Nice find, its actually an Izhevsk mfg, Tula would have a large star with arrow through it where the hammer and sickle are on this one...Much more fun to have then a refurbed import marked Russian piece! Interesting that it has a dog collar instead of a swivel on the rear...

Yup, a Finn capture M91/30, Ishevsk made. Lot of history in that rifle. Finn captures are much harder to find than a recent import 91/30, and more desireable from both a collecting and shooting category. Nice CCCP roundel on the stock too! 8)

Keep it and enjoy it! If you reload, you'll soon find out they can be the sleeper on a firing line until everyone go to retrieve the targets... :D
Now, a Finn capture round receivered M-91-30 is always interesting. Any sign of Finn accurization work under the receiver? Look for small brass shims.
PP. :)

Will have to check when I disassemble it.
It's accurate and has a good kick to it! :D

Try an M-44 on for kicks with hungarian heavy ball... better: try it at dusk!
I won't suggest you to fire it prone and lying in very dry grass...

Safe??? No, you need to forget the safe and build a "re-inforced room" that is "not readily broken into"

I agree!! However I already take up so much space with my *ahem* hobbies that I would risk getting whipped with the butt of one of my own rifles.

Besides the argument is always "Why do you need more than one anyway?" And trying to explain it is easy....for me....

So anyhow....I sure do like those Mosins....although I don't think I would own an M44, I may get an M38 one day.

Sorry for the Hijack but could someone tell me how to track down SIRs deals on the 91/30s. I've been all over their website and can't find anything, or are the milsurps not listed on the website and a phone call will answer all my questions? What other milsurp deals do they have?
Thanks
Ed
