Some questions for the savvy mosin fans here:

Anyone seen the double D stamp? I mean, DD jokes aside, is there some significance? And is that a faint / between the Ds?

Isn't there a name specific for that type of M27 cleaning rod?

(and if any of the images are not of a gun, please pm me, I've had some unfortunate incidents of tinypic swapping images ;) )

The first D (the one on the right side) was stamped in the wrong location, hence, someone came by and fixed it by stamping another in the correct (center) location. Everyone blunders a couple times as they get their start in a factory. Not much mystery to it, sorry.

The bluing/ finish on the metal on that one is also recent.

On mine the "D" is double stamped, so is the boxed "SA" marking. They marked the "D" to signify the rifle would accommodate the Soviet heavy ball round of which they captured a great deal of.

With regards to the cleaning rod... From what I see in the pic yours doesn't look correct for an M27. I can't quite make out the detail from the pics, but it looks more like the one they used on the M39.

Yeah, it was just a terminology question. The folks on gunboards, where I asked after this thread went quiet explained that M39 cleaning rod _is_ the correct way to refer to it.
