Hello! Here's my recent acqusition: Finnish M27. Previous owners says that the rifle was owned by an Estonian, who served as a sniper during WWII and before his death in 1985 he gave this rifle to him. He also told me that according to the Estonian guy this rifle was selected as a sniper rifle and some conversion was done by Finns then (drilling, tapping and bent bolt handle). He's guessing that the rifle was or intended to be fitted with Physica scope(I doubt pretty much, however it never hurt to hear a professional opinion).
Anyway, it's a 1933 Tikka, chambered for "F" type cartridge(no "D" marking). Stock marked with: AV3 3370(which is a serial number backwards???) Barrel, bolt and connecting bar #'s match. It has an incredibly smooth action and truly absolutely fantastic two stage trigger pull. I fired few 7.62x53R Lapua brass loaded with .308" 185gr Lapua Scenar and 190gr Berger bullets just to prove, that the rifle is an excellent shooter.
The main question is: for what type of scope this rifle was intended to be converted for (PU or...?)? Or was it fitted with the scope and converted to the standard configuration then? Or just a Finn Bubba job? I can't see the way of fitting this rifle with any kind of scope without inleting the stock...Any opinion would be greatly appreciated!
Either way, even if it's not a true sniper it's still a great rifle and I paid only $ 250.00 for it.
