Hey gang,

I have a line on a Finn M39 and was wondering if any experts could chime in on what is a fair price.

-It's a 1943 Sako, wood looks nice but the seller explained there is a small crack that was arsenal repaired.
-bore is good with light frosting, no deep pits.
-Numbers are all matching and looks to have the proper Finnish sling.
-blue is pretty much gone and the receiver looks to be almost in the white, why do some Finn rifles have so much wear?

I will try and get a photo for you but I feel that is an okay description to get a ballpark value.

Thanks!

I also have a 43 Sako- SKY marked M39. Wood is a little marked up but metal including bore is VG. Shoots cast bullets pretty well. Adjustable for windage front site is a real bonus. Came out of Century Arms in the late '80's. I think the price was $85.00 picked up at a local shop.

You are right I didn't comment on the current value. If I didn't have one and I came across one in very good condition (I shoot all my rifles so bore condition is important to me) I would pay $400.00 but probably not more. Having said that (and mine is not for sale) I would value it at $500.

were originally 160-180-now-@500 seems to be the market

I've never seen an M39 for $180 in Canada. The only significant number of M39's in Canada came in through Collector's Source about 5 years ago. Prices ranged between $350 and $800 depending on whether or not it was a civil guard rifle, refurb or original, etc.

There was a VERY few mixed in with the 1980's imports of M91's, but so few as to not matter when assessing value.

I own and have owned a number of M39's. I seem to remember International Firearms of Montreal advertising mint M39's for $100 in the Gunrunner around 1996-1997. They were also selling at the Cleveland Gun Show for $100 in January 1997 and many vendors had them on their tables.
