This is my first unrefurbed Mosin. Its a 1905 Izhevsk M91 Finn captured.
I know basically nothing about these. Just took a chance to upgrade one of my refurbs. THKS Chris! lol

SA marked hex receiver 1905 dated.
1905 barrel.
Mismatched finn stock
Cocking piece, and bolt force matched.

Bore is pretty good, little frosty but shootable.

Tell me about it.

You have a 1905 Izhevsk M91. Still in a Russian stock. This is a Captured rifle that was put back in to service by the Finns. It must shoot good or they would have re-barreled it. Nice old M91 that should shoot as good as any Finn Mosin.

Thanks for the info.

I'm hoping it shoots!

Russian stock......thats cool. Not the matching one but still neat.

So is there any way to date when it may have been captured and reissued? Winter war era? or when the Finns took their independence? This ones been around for all of it. LOL

I think this rifle was part of stock inherited by Finns in 1917 or captured shortly after.

I doubt Russians had any M91 in original trim still in service by 1939.

Cool find-I have one M91 already but wouldn't mind another just like yours :)

The Finns got M91's from all over the place, including on the open market after WW1, and from Germany - who captured large quantities in 1914. No telling where this one came from, but it has been refurbed.

1) The stock was replaced and marked at a finnish depot. It came off another rifle. The handguard is a Winter-War era replacement with non-bronze rivets.
2) The rear sight has been changed out for one modified by the finns to include a 200m setting. The Arshini markings were also changed to meters.

Still a nice representative M91 though. Hope she shoots well.
