Hi. Has anyone had any experience with Sako's finnfire varmint. I guess it is a P94s. I am looking for a target .22 and looks like wholesale has some left. It looks like a good choice. thanks for any info. Kevin.

Kevin; I own a P94s Finnfire. The barrel is not a heavyweight, but is a "stout" sporter. Mine is very accurate, and has a decent adjustable trigger. It is also not as fussy about ammo as some of my other accurate rimfires are. The magazines are a bit hokey, but seem to work fine. All in all, I would rate this rifle a solid 8/10 in the overall category (accuracy, fit & finish, ergonomics, solid action, etc) I don't know how much you will pay for a new one, but they are a good investment. Regards, Eagleye.

thanks for the info, I'm in the planning stages right now. Wholesale is still listing them on their website. 1199.00, I don't know if I can justify spending that much on a .22. I bought a very german anschutz a few years ago for 250.00 so I don't really need a sako. But that never stopped me before. Thanks for the info. Kevin.

I've got a Finnfire in the "Master Sporter" configuration -- heavy barrel in a walnut target stock. All things considered, I think the rifle lives up to its price tag. The action is quite slick and has a very positive lockup. As mentioned in a previous post, the trigger is fairly decent and easily adjustable. Accuracy isn't benchrest grade, but is pretty good -- it's not too hard to find a brand of ammo that will shoot into 3/4" at 50 yards.

Good to know. I sent them a message tonight so they might get back to me by the end of the week. They have the sporter version on sale for 1029.00. But I wanted something in a heavy barrel.

Kevin,

I own a Finnfire Varmint that is now fitted with a Lilja drop-in barrel. It's an excellent rifle but if I had to choose between my Finnfire and my 54 Sporter Anschütz though, I'd go with the Anschütz. It offers even better worksmanship, better accuracy, etc.

As jcbruno told you, I don't think that Wholesale still has Finnfire in stock. It has now been replaced by the Quad which is quite a different beast.

Neo,

If you can't easily find ammo that delivers sub 1/2'' groups, then there is obviously something wrong with your Sako...

Paul
