Hello all. I managed to pick up this rifle up at an auction for the price of a regular 91/30. Laugh2
Mosin Nagant 1891 made in 1905. SA markings on it. I've never seen one (m1891) before, so i figure this is worth more than the 91/30. What do these go for? I don't want to sell it as I seem to have a collection of mosins going (7 mosins, 4 variants), but i'm curious for if the economy doesn't turn around...

There are a lot of these "T"s on this rifle. I believe these are Finish markings. Any significance on the 38T?

Looks like a finned M91, value not sure got two "new" ones only paid 150.00 each for them a while back.
That "t" is actually a hammer, the Tula hammer, you can find all makers in a whole rifle.
Smells like history.
Be well

As I recall Lever Arms in Vancouver had them on for $25. apiece in the mid-80's. They have gone up a bit lately.

Hi Guys. Not sure we're yours came from since it is "sesoned" I hazard to guess. But the two I have came from Cambodian tire in the sixty or seventys, they even sold Bell brand 7.62Ă—54r with proper .308 size bullets. Mine were both both from different fellers that never shot them, one guy said it was a 303, I did not know the difference then but knew it was cool. Did my research and got addicted to milsurps and here I am. They have crap tones of history look into the markings, some served in many army's and fought in many wars. All part of the mystique of milsurps, that slimy slope we love so much.
Look into barrel size markings too. They will all shoot 7.62 Russian, the smaller "D" marked bores(correct me if I am wrong) are insanely accurate with proper bullets and handloading.
I think there is not a Mosin collector base like in the states so prices here are not a crazy as down south.
All my best.

Thank everyone. Maybe I'll look into one of those wall mount locks and put it above my fireplace. I don't feel the desire to shoot it when I have more common mosins.

Experts will be along shortly. I believe it's a M1891/24 or M24. The Finns rebuilt these in the 20s thus the two piece stock.

Finn M24 "Lotta" had barrels made by Swiss and Germans and was marked with a capital S on receiver.....this is original 1905 Izhevsk M91 that was inherited by Finland as they were part of Russian Empire back then....that puppy's oozing history.....stock has been replaced, and sights have been Finned, but its still a great find

agreed, not a M24

but very interesting.

OP, is this a ride along or show your own post?
I'm really getting some info that seems quite relevant to a recent acquisition of mine as a bonus here.
But thread hijacking with unsolicted pictures seems...distasteful?

Arise! Ye Necro-thread!

By the way, the bolt is not Finn-matched one the OP's gun and the barrel is deeply pitted in numerous spots. No idea of the bore condition, but presumably not great. The stock is an American-made butt with a finn fore-stock splice repair, WW2 era splice.

It's not worth anywhere near $400-425 a someone suggested. More like $200-250 in that condition in my area (Ottawa). If the bolt matched and/or if it was not so pitted, it would be worth more.

I'm surprised this thread came back....

Go for it. I just wanted to know what mine is worth, and I wouldn't mind seeing what else is out there.

I paid around $220 when it was all said and done. I have no intention of shooting it as its a little to ruff for my liking. It is definitely a conversation piece; not many have seen a 1891, and this one has so much history being a Fin capture. I wouldn't mind hanging it above my fireplace as it looks so old, but I would have to get some sort of locking system to make it legal.
