Not all B's are plum. Mine is so dark purple it nearly looks like regular blue.

Here are a few of mine. The second from the top is a B barrel - it's very dark purple on the shank, looks like blue in the pics. The third from the top is a 1968 "no maker" M38 and it's much more plum colored, FWIW.

Yes and 1942 is the barrel contract year, not the manufacturing date of the finished rifle

ALL B-barrel riles (M91 and M39) are marked 1942. It's thought some M91 B-barrels were finished before the end of the continuation war, but the M39's are likely post-war, unless they were cut down from an M91 that saw service.

ZOMG. So why the bottom 4 with the different sights? My Finner has the top curved, no other discernable difference from this angle. Has meters on one side, looks like approx the same barrel bands. Very nice pics, that'd be one hell of a party with all five girls barkin'.
