Hey guys, I tried doing a search but only got one thread result from the EE section.

I'm very interested in getting a Finnish M-39 and I'm wondering where are some good places online to get them? Also what are the conditions of these rifles typically when purchased, and what kind of repairs would need to be done to them to get em up to scratch? Anyone with experience with these Finnish made Mosin Nagants please sound off! Thanks

I took a look at the Finn selection at P&S and there is currently no M39 listed. Could that be an old link? Collector's Source has a beautiful one - sadly in their deactivated section. What kind of sadist would do that anyway? And they still want $395 for it. The M39 is pretty common south of the border but extremely rare up here. It's considered by many experts to be one of, if not the most accurate rifle of WWII. I'd expect to pay in the neighborhood of $600 for a nice one. I like the P&S website and visit it regularly. They are expensive (who isn't) but the inventory is pretty good with new stuff coming in pretty regularly.

Oh are the first 2 rifles pictured not M39s? It said 'Finnish Mosin Nagant' and I figured that was more or less the same thing. Thought the iron sights look different. Link again- http://psmilitaria.50megs.com/mosin.html

Jean at P&S is one great dealer to buy from. I have bought a number of the German rifles from him and I have no regrets.

He does not have any M39s on his Finnish section, they are either M91s or M91.30 captures. He does have a few Lotta rifles for very reasonable prices considering the rarity of bumping into those.

I have made right around a dozen purchases from P&S over the last couple years. Nice people on the phone, quick confirmation when they got my MOs and never an issue with shipping.

I have found the pricing to be a tad higher than other dealers but it has ALWAYS been worth the extra few bucks.

Yes, Finnish M39's are not an easy find and when they do come up, they are not cheap. Most of the time.......

I bought mine on a whim. The bore was rated as a sewer pipe but I did not have one and the price was under $200. Anyhow, I ran a few pads through the barrel (came out black) and then fired a few rounds of Hungarian ammo through it. The bore came out clean (it was just full of crap). Very accurate rifle, very nicely built.

Nope not for sale either, I've had offers at the range :)

As for P&S, great dealer, I have bought from them on numerous occasions and will do again with no concern.

If all else fails you can buy it in the US and import it through prophet river or another importer???

Sometimes that is an easier concept than reality. I shipped up 2 M-39's and a 96 swede. An m-39 and swede made the journey in around 6 - 7 months; but the remaining m-39 took about a year to bless me with it's presence.
Really...apparently the US side was the hold-up. But it test's your patience non-the-less.
