Anybody use Fiocchi 223 ammo in their Semi Autos -AR's/Swiss/Robinsons/HK etc and how did you find it for accuracy and wear?

I always thought that Fiocchi ammo was for handguns and understood it to be hot and loud in handguns and was curious if this was the case in the Black Rifles? If it is hotter than others, does it create more wear on Semi's?

If the US sourced ammo is rare now, is this a good alternate?

thanks

Last week, me(SL8) and a buddy(XCR) did a comparison test between Winchester whitebox, Fiocchi, and PMC Bronze.

My SL8 shot equally well with 55gr Fiocchi .223 & 55gr PMC Bronze. 55 gr Whitebox was not as consistent. My buddies XCR had the same accuracy results, but with one nasty footnote: His XCR would punch crisp and clean holes through the primers in the Fiocchi. The XCR was fine with the Winchester and PMC primers. My SL8 had no problems with any of the primers, so I swapped my buddy a bunch of my PMC for his Fiocchi.

I can't really say that I can recall if the Fiocchi barked more than the other .223 ammo, but I'll look out for that the next time I'm playing around...

I don't think it's an alternate as we aren't getting the Fiocchi direct from Italy. I've chatted with Giovanni a few times about this and I'm pretty sure that European Arms(North Vancouver) imports all their Fiocchi from the USA. He's always telling me about the headaches with the U.S. State Department, etc. As far as I know, Giovanni(and his Dad, Luigi) are the official Fiocchi importer for this side of Canada.

It's not louder, those cardridges does less noise than winchester ammo. Fiocchi are good when you don't need too much power. Exemple: in a Ruger revolver .357 to avoid the back spray. Good for some pistols actions.
But really bad in a desert eagle, not enough power to make the action working properly.
So, to answer the question: yes those cardridges are really good for AR, especially if you have a short gas tube.

I've seen Fiocchi .223 blow primers out in AR's on a pretty regular basis. A few primers floating around inside the AR and it didn't take long to affect function or put it out of service altogether. They aren't worth the trouble, even for practice.

Some douchebag ran a bunch of Fiocchi through my rifle that we were hotgunning at the Custer match earlier this month. I didn't see any blown primers, but it is filthy.

Well if better not be too bad I just bought a case of this from Lever Arms in Vancouver, Was told by the sales staff the" it make American Eagle .223 look like crap" My XCR better like eating this.

Maybe that's an AR problem, rather than the ammo?

My Swiss handles Fiocchi just fine...

A Fiocchi primer jammed in the locking lugs of an XCR is a really interesting thing to see.

I guess my buddy was pretty lucky that he only punched the clean holes in the Fiocchi rather then having the whole primer blow back.

Actually, I was impressed with just how crisp those holes were. Mike, I'm pretty sure we showed them to you when you stopped by range 7 after your tactical night at PoCo. That was you, yes?

That was me.
The Fiocchi stuff tends to run a bit hot. Shorted barrel AR's tend to blow the primers out and the gas system on the XCR's could probably be adjusted to run a bit smoother. I've put a few hundred rounds through my 16" with mid-length gas system and other than being a bit dirty have not had any problems with it.
