Fiocchi Tracer Shot Shells

Does anybody understand why the government prohibits tracer ammo; what's the rationale?

Or are they just prohibited due to the coolness factor?:cool:

My suspicion is that tracer rounds have been traditionally incendiary in nature which is why they've been prohibited as you say. The rationale? so you don't set sh*t on fire!

I asked this awhile back. Nobody ever knows what these are when I called all the dealers.

Sounds like TSE knows what they are.

These were releases last year. Why do we not have these here...

They are not incendiary right?

Great info.
However, I would like to come to that conclusion on my own.

these things work like a glow stick, they need to be activated by being broken on the inside basically, the ones weve shot werent impressive, we had one kind of show up, the rest didnt do anything. they wont burn anything down, again same idea as a glow stick just on a smaller scale. i have shot some real tracers before and they were nice and red as they flew. but these really arent worth the money. watch some youtube videos on them i dont think a single person has had success with them

when did tracers become illegal? or is that only for the shotgun tracers? i live in ontario and i have always been told that tracers are legal to own/shoot. plus ive seen lots for sale on the EE (loaded rounds and just tips, everything from .22's-.50's. and my brother even purchased like 600 .308 tracer tips from here)

they are not illegal, if you live in thunderbay that is.....sorry had to poke a shot at you

The last time I fired tracers was just outside Thunder Bay.. I didnt get arrested so I guess It was legal.:D

Im perdy sure thunder and lightning causes more forest fires than tracers.. Maybe they should arrest, or simply control Thor.. the God of lightning..:D

Good luck with that..:slap::)

For the shooter straight behind them they are not that brite and take up to 30 yards to glow. Standing of on an angle they are clearly visible after 20-30 yards and glow out to about 80-90 yards. Low light makes it easier to see them. The chemicals mix by breaking a glass like thing inside just like a glo stick. It takes a second or 2 to mix that is why you don't see them until 20 to 30yards. To help with trap I don't see the point but for extended range and fun they serve well. When patterning on a dry field at 80 yards or so the tracer glo stick does land in the dust of the shot colume. Whther they are legal or not I don't know but they are not incendiary
