fire formed brass

I use IVI brass as well - strong stuff.

I also anneal my brass as well, so I'll be using it for a very long time.

When I started using my brass, I full length sized it. From 1st firing on out I neck sized until it was a bit tight to chamber.

I use the Hornady neck bump die - bumps the shoulder and resizes just the neck. It uses different size bushings to accomplish the proper neck tension.

Good luck with your endeavour.

Cheers, Carl

I neck size only most of my brass, I get more resistance with some cartridges than others. I wait until they're fairly stiff before bumping them back. I'm mostly single feeding and target shooting, for hunting stuff going into the field I would size more frequently.

Were they fireformed from virgin, or were they once-fired in a different rifle and then fireformed in yours? In the latter situation, I would tend to bump them back a bit right away.

Some resistance is ok. it might go away after the next firing. The bolt cams forward on closing, so it will compress the round unless it is real bad.

But put a dab of grease on the locking lugs, to prevent galling. the locking lugs are the rear set, not the front ones that spin around.

i found hornady neck sizing dies at , Graf & sons .com, thay have 5 instock item number 046045, and will ship to canada, hornady does not have any instock,

their 1-800 number does not work in canada i do have another number if you want it,
